About Camille

Camille Doherty is a junior at Claremont McKenna College from Denver, CO. She is a dual major in Philosophy, Politics, & Economics (PPE) and Film Studies, and is interested in the intersections of environmentalism, media, and social change. In her free time, she loves to mountain bike, hike, play guitar, and spend time with her sisters.

About Claire

I am a senior at CMC majoring in Environment, Economics, and Politics. Having grown up in southern Maine, I’m interested in coastal health and methods to increase resilience to warming and ocean acidification through nature-based solutions. I am so excited to lead the REC’s Marine Science & Conservation team this year! Outside of the REC, I love writing letters to friends, trying out new tofu recipes, and making up abbreviations.

About Annika

Annika is a sophomore at Claremont McKenna College studying Environment, Economics, and Politics with a sequence in Data Science and a particular interest in environmental economics research. Outside of the REC, she works as a tutor for the Robert Day School of Economics and Finance and enjoys modern dancing, graphic design, and the arts.

Mateo is a senior at Claremont McKenna College from Ojai, CA pursuing a dual degree in Economics and Music. He is passionate about outdoor education, conservation, and environmental economics. Outside of the REC, he is involved in a variety of musical engagements as well as surfing, weight-training and triathlons.

About Sonja

Sonja is a senior at Claremont McKenna College majoring in International Relations and is excited to be leading the Policy & Outreach Team this year. Outside of the REC, she leads the social media team at the CMC Admissions Office and teaches weekly classes to incarcerated students through the Prison Education Project. In her free-time, Sonja enjoys thru- hiking, baking, and eating said baked goods.

Carolina is a junior at Claremont McKenna College majoring in International Relations with an interest in Democratic backsliding in Central and Eastern European countries. She is currently pursuing a full-year study abroad in Copenhagen and Milan but was previously on the Natural Sciences and Green Consulting teams. Lilly is a junior at Claremont McKenna College majoring in public policy. She is especially passionate about environmental issues and climate action, previously interning at The Toothpick Project and the Benioff Ocean Science Laboratory at UCSB through the National Science Foundation. She is also a sitting board member at the Verdani Institute for the Built Environment (VIBE). In her free time she enjoys playing and listening to music, watching documentaries, and finding the best food in LA.

My name is Jiyeon, and I’m a sophomore at CMC majoring in Environment, Economics, & Politics (EEP) from Victorville, CA. In addition to the REC, I’m an event coordinator for QuestBridge and a Gould/Envirolab Research Fellow exploring how we may be able to cultivate sustainable rural communities in response to climate change and globalized societies. In my free time, I enjoy long-distance running and recharging on Pomona’s Marston Quad with a good playlist or book.

Aidan is a freshman at Claremont McKenna College who was born and raised in Massachusetts. While he is officially an Environment, Economics, and Policy major, Aidan enjoys learning about the patterns of the world in any field. Having gone to high school in the wilderness of Groton, Massachusetts, Aidan can occasionally be found crunching leaves in the forest and losing staring contests with squirrels. When he isn’t frolicking in the woods, Aidan spends his time reminiscing on his glory days as a washed up competitive gamer, playing pick up sports with friends, or talking to his mom, dad, and older sister whom he loves dearly.

Alexa is a Junior at Pitzer College studying Environmental Analysis (Environment and Society) and Gender Studies. She is a certified PADI Rescue Scuba Diver with a soft spot for marine ecosystems. My name is Jasmine and I’m a junior at Pomona College. I’m a Chemistry major, and am especially interested in how chemical research can help create a sustainable future. I am working in a new research lab at Pomona that aims to develop new polymers through a green chemistry lens, and discover catalysts that can degrade them. Having grown up in London, I love the So-Cal climate and landscape, and enjoy visiting the beach, and finding new places to run, hike and explore.

Hi, my name is Alyssa and I am an Economics and Engineering sophomore at Claremont Mckenna College. Along with being a part of the REC, I work as lifegaurd at Roberts Pavilion and run for the CMS track and field team. I really love working at the REC since I not only get to do research on compelling topics around environmentalism but, also apply it to real-world projects. I also enjoy having a community of peers who are all passionate about this cause and getting to learn about their projects and the work they are dedicating themselves to.
